Deloitte University EMEA, located in Paris, France, serves as a premier learning and development facility for Deloitte’s employees across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The 260,000 sq ft space was designed to foster growth, development, and leadership within a homely and welcoming environment, embodying a Scandinavian aesthetic of comfort and simplicity.
The Design Brief
Creating a Seamless and Engaging Experience
The design of Deloitte University EMEA was envisioned as a journey, inviting delegates to move harmoniously through the spaces, experiencing a sense of exploration and discovery. The building is not only homely but also intentionally designed to create a seamless and engaging experience from the moment one walks in.
To enhance their vision, our products were thoughtfully integrated throughout the facility:
Blume Lounge Chair: Featuring a unique low seating position, thick cushions, and deep chamfer, the Blume Lounge Chair adds unrivaled style and comfort to any space. Available in three frame finishes—Ash, Oak, or Black—it is an ideal addition to breakout and relaxation areas and can be seen and enjoyed extensively throughout campus.
Bamboo: Our Bamboo range offers versatile and sustainable shelving solutions, perfect for creating dynamic environments that evolve over time. The modular design allows for flexibility, enabling various layouts to accommodate different needs and activities.
Ilk Chair with 4-Leg Wooden Base: The Ilk Chair combines ergonomic comfort with a sleek design. Its 4-leg wooden base adds a touch of natural elegance, aligning with the facility’s Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic. It was specified in smaller intimate spaces and environments where colleagues can remove themselves to find calm, relax, and refocus when required.
Osti Bench and Table: Provides functional and stylish outdoor seating and tables suitable for both collaborative and individual settings. Its clean lines and sturdy construction make it a versatile addition to various outdoor spaces within the facility.
A soft pastel colour palette was used throughout the facility to evoke a sense of warmth and comfort, enhancing the home-like atmosphere. The furniture played a crucial role in achieving this ambiance. The lounge areas were designed to feel welcoming and comfortable, but also creating a wow factor, highlighting the floor-to-ceiling windows and stunning views. To maintain an unobstructed view and encourage exploration, furniture with low or no backs was strategically chosen. This allows people to see through the space, inviting curiosity about what lies around the corner or in the distance.
The thoughtful selection of furniture ensured a visual link to the outside environment, avoiding high-back chairs or sofas in front of the windows, preserving the picturesque views of the lake. This design choice fosters a sense of flow and movement, allowing people to feel connected to the surrounding landscape as they move through the space.
The process has resulted in a state-of-the-art learning facility that perfectly balances professional development needs with the comfort of a welcoming environment.
